Parable of the Sower is the Butlerian odyssey of one woman who is twice as feeling in a world that has become doubly dehumanized. The time is 2025. The place is California, where small walled communities must protect themselves from hordes of desperate scavengers and roaming bands of people addicted to a drug that activates an orgasmic desire to burn, rape, and murder. When one small community is overrun, Lauren Olamina, an 18 year old black woman with the hereditary train of "hyperempathy"—which causes her to feel others’ pain as her own—sets off on foot along the dangerous coastal highways, moving north into the unknown.- from Barnes and Noble

My friend Yaya gave me this book to read so I am finally starting to. I am reading this and a book about publishing. I may post that book as well. Does that seem like a book you might want to know about? It gives you insight into starting your own magazine and or newspaper.

From The Diary of A Non Cooking Girl: Misadventures in Cooking

So I am no chef but I am getting back into cooking. So this was one of my latest attempts that I actually took pictures of.

It's basically spaghetti with tomatoes and red and green peppers on garlic toast.

This was my first time trying to season up my sauce. I used a simple three cheese sauce and I used  pepper Worcestershire sauce, a can of tomatoes and green peppers, Italian seasoning and because I am  country at heart, sugar.

I boiled the penne pasta in water, extra virgin olive oil (EVO for the food network junkies) and a tiny tiny amount of salt.

Onto the hamburger meat I just used some garlic powder, pepper and a pinch of salt. Saute it and add it into the sauce with the can of tomatoes and peppers add a little more sugar.

Garlic Toast- I cheated it Texas Toast.

Peppers were sauteed in olive oil and garlic cloves and a little bit of Worcestershire sauce and a pinch of salt. It tasted better when you put some of the sauce on the toast and then the peppers.

Ingredients
Ground Beef
Penne Pasta
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Pepper
Salt
Worcestershire Sauce
Sugar
Red and Green Peppers
Can of tomatoes with green peppers
Texas Toast
2 Garlic cloves
Three cheese sauce
It seems like a lot. For me this was good because it was stuff that we had at the house minus the peppers. I didn't just have peppers.

Back to the Basics

Happy Monday,
This was one of my favorite posts that I ever wrote. It is long winded, but it is honest and I still feel the same way. I wrote this exactly one year ago today. I needed to read this today. I really hope you like. IDK why I used the Alice in Wonderland posters. I think I just love the film and it was one of my favorite stories when I was younger. Wow I am old. So if you have time to read please do.

If you know me, I am always saying I am trying to get back to the basics. Now, I am not a pusher for living in the past, but I noticed that before my college years I looked at things in a much more simple light. I feel like you get older and you over analyze everything, and that is saying a lot coming from me. I am the queen of over analyzing. I was in the past and I am now. I will admit, I know a lot more than I knew then but at the core of everything, even in our most intricate complexities, lies a simplistic explanation. That is what I mean when I say I am going back to the basics. I can’t tell you how many nights of sleep I missed out on over analyzing a situation. The answer to a lot of our questions are often very simple and equally insignificant, in the grand scheme of things.

I am working on having a simplistic out look on life. You are nice to me, then I am nice to you. You hurt me, well I don’t like you anymore. You don’ t like me but you still say, ”hi?” Well, "salutations to you, as well."  "Oh you care only about you?"  "Well, I love me too." You are focused on making yourself happy? Well, me too. You don’t bother me. I won’t bother you.

Going back to the basics for me just means focusing on me and my dreams and my goals. Get in where you fit in. I am still a servant to my community. I am still that friend you need me to be, but I will not partake in any drama. I am too OLD. Twenty two years too old. The sad part is, I had that doctrine down to a “T” when I was younger. Gossip? I wouldn’t partake. You didn’t like me? Well that sounds an awful lot like a personal problem to me. You get to college, you get involved, you even find a church that has the same belief : That if you have a problem with someone, you should talk it out. Nope that is where “Back to the Basics” comes in. You don’t like me? Ok everyone that meets me isn’t going to.

"So and so said this about you." Oh that’s unfortunate, they never said anything to me. People talk, what are you going to do? Focus on yourself. That level of self-involvement will still offend people. However, let’s be honest, someone who is offended by you taking care of you has the self -esteem of a gerbil, and they should retire to the little exercise wheel that those rodents are familiar with.
Back to the Basics.!!!

You have dreams waiting to be manifested into reality. You have obstacles that you are designed to conquer. That is a pressing agenda, which has no room for jealousy, insecurities, drama and false friendships.

 .

Get Back to the Basics. Get consumed by your dreams. Be vain, and surround yourself with people who love you. No more of those people you call “friend,” who talk about you. Be selfish, and surround yourself with positivity. Be arrogant, and actually believe in yourself.

Allowing the actions or behavior of others to dictate my happiness, or even worse my perception of myself has been all to prevalent in my life these past four years. However, that is not how it is suppose to be. My happiness and my self-awareness is not contingent upon anyone else. Nor is it in the midst of the complexities of someone else’s issues. It lies simply with me, well really with God, but you know what I mean. It’s me and him, no one else.
Back to the Basics is all about you. Like whatever you like, whomever you like and get caught up in you, not drama.

I hope you liked

How Can I Make The Blog Better?

A few things to celebrate
-I finally have reached 113 followers. I think it is more like 111 because two of the followers are me. Nevertheless, I am very grateful that people are actually stopping by the blog and at the very least taking a peak at what I have to say. So thank you!!! From the bottom of my heart thank you for reading my random posts, giving me input on the layout of the blog and for the compliments. It means more to me than I can ever say.

- Gator Alumni Status, I had to say it.

- Moving into the unknown- A lot of things that I expected to happen are not happening and honestly for a while I was really bent up about it. I am taking the unexpected turns and trying to make my own way. It will be seen on my blog. I apologize for all the obscurity in my writing.

Ok On To The Next
Now for the most important question, now that I have you, how do I keep you? What can I do to make my blog better and make you want to read it everyday? I am working on the photography. Should I include more fashion news, random things that I want to buy? What?

A Few Changes
- I will be including a library section mostly because I have stopped reading for fun and I need to get back into it.
- I plan to get back into cooking. So that means cooking posts. Pray to whoever you pray to.
-And I also plan to spotlight different blogs that I can't get enough of. So please e-mail me or include the name of your blog and tell me if you want me to feature you in the comments for this post.

It's been great and I hope that it will only get better.

My Stroll Down Memory Lane......Bitten

                                                      Hello,
So today was an interesting day. I felt horrible for most of it, but despite all that it is important to keep moving. The more I thought about planning out my next venture, I couldn't stop my mind from wandering back to the past. I miss the days of simplicity. What is it about old age that makes us forget everything and complicate anything? Anyway,  as I thought about how simple things were for me in the past, I thought about a few of things that use to make me happy. Sarah Jessica Parker, the fashion icon for all fashion loving writers, had a line that most may have forgotten. The line was called Bitten and I still wear some of the pieces today.

I wanted to include a few pictures of items that I do have from the line. The jacket, from my prairie look fashion diary, was from Bitten and I was over the moon when I got the dress from Project Runway. I loved the concept behind the line. The idea that fashion is for everyone really spoke to me.

I hope you enjoyed the stroll with me.

Fashion Diary: This Is A Man's World-

"This is a man's world, this is a man's world........."
"But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl.."- James Brown.

I loved the rustic background. I am weird, I know.

Figured I would post a sensible shoe this time.
This was my take on male inspired fashion. Generally, I am not a matchy- matchy person but I couldn't resist. The heel is so high and I just wanted to wear some pants that were light and bright and ideal for summer. Thanks mommy!!!

. Tank top Forever 21 $8, Pants stolen from my mother's closet. Shoes Bumper. Belt a random Miami boutique. Shades Target. Earrings stolen from my mom. Bracelet gifted.
